Is it just me or was January the fastest slow month ever? It seems like the cold and grey weather made it seem like winter will never end, but time just flew by. How many more days until spring?
I started my new job working part-time at a spin studio in the middle of December. I wanted something to do to get me out of the house over the winter as I was going a little stir crazy by mid November with everything slowing down at the farm. I have been working a lot more then just part-time hours, but I am loving it. The atmosphere is so positive and everyone is just so happy all the time! The endorphins that get released from working out are seriously magical.
I have been a big fan of the whole ‘new year, new you’ movement for the past few years. I would think of all of the wonderful things I would get accomplished in the new year. I don’t know if I really ended up doing any of them in the past if I am being honest. This year I looked at things a little differently. 2017 was overall good to me. I had some bumpy times but I learned a lot about myself. I wanted to take what I knowledge I gained and just grow with it.
One thing I have been working on is perfecting my morning routine. I have read the books, listened to the podcasts, and drank the Kool-Aid when it comes to the trends of morning routines. Why? Because it works for me. I find if I don’t do my morning rituals it seems to throw my whole day off. That being said, the mornings I have to get up at 3:45am to be to work before 5am there is NO WAY I am going to get up any earlier than that to start my day! But, I am off work by 10am and I come home to do my little routine and then continue on my day. It seems strange, but it works. Would you be interested in knowing what my routine consists of? Let me know, I’d love to share with you.
Another AH-HA moment for me recently is the lack of accountability I have for myself. When it comes to other people (my team, my coworkers, family, friends, etc.) I would go to the ends of the earth to satisfy a commitment I have made to them, even if that means I am taking sometime away from myself to get it done. BUT when it comes to making a goal or a commitment to myself, the excuses roll on out of why I can’t get it done or why it can wait. Why is that!? Why not go to the ends of the earth to accomplish something for myself? I have been working on the answer to this question in a few different contexts. It helps me make better decisions throughout my day, making future plans, and setting healthy boundaries. Are you guilty of this too?
Okay – one of the BEST things I have to share with you about how my January went was I became an Auntie again! My sweet little nephew was born on January 30; perfectly happy and healthy. I am slightly obsessed with how handsome he is and I can’t wait for more baby snuggles.
I hope January has been good to you. Sending you warm thoughts and lots of love.
Love always,
K.
