The Rural Woman Podcast Episode 66 – Growing the Next Generation of Farmers with Dana Penrice

On this week’s episode of The Rural Woman Podcast you’ll meet Dana Penrice. Dana is the Prairie Program Manager for the Young Agrarians which  is a farmer to farmer educational resource network for new and young ecological, organic and regenerative farmers in Canada. Dana works with a great team of community facilitators to help grow the next generation of farmers and food lovers in Canada. Dana has helped facilitate farm tours, workshops, and mixers across Alberta with the Young Agrarians, She has also stated the Young Agrarians Alberta Apprenticeship programs and is now working on taking this program across the prairies. Dana and her partner recently moved back to the family farm near Shoal Lake, Manitoba where they are working with her in-laws on farm transition.

Dana is also the Young Agrarians Prairie Program Manager and works with a great team of community facilitators to grow the next generation of regenerative farmers. In 2015, she brought Young Agrarians and organized farm tours, workshops and mixers across Alberta. She also started the Young Agrarians Alberta Apprenticeship Program. Now she is working on taking Young Agrarians across the prairies. 

Dana is also the Holistic Management Canada Coordinator and HM Certified Educator in training. Through this work she is interested in supporting others in transitioning to regenerative farming and understanding the financial, ecological and social impact. 

Dana’s formal education was in Animal Science, earning a B. Sc. from the U of A. Her most meaningful informal training has come from her past experience working in poultry research, producing a edu-tainment show called There’s a Heifer in Your Tank and becoming an associate of the Human Venture Institute. 

Her and her partner recently moved back to the family farm near Shoal Lake, Manitoba where they are working with her in-laws on farm transition.
