On this week’s episode of The Rural Woman Podcast, you’ll meet Jillian Byers. Jillian along with her family own and operate Blue Ridge Farms located in Blue Ridge, Alberta approximately 1.5 hours northwest of Edmonton, Alberta. They started their operation in 2011 with 7 heifers, a dog and two cats and now are raising 400 head of cattle, pasture raised poultry, and free range pastured pork. Jillian sold their farm goods at a number of farmers markets and in 2019 made the leap into starting their own farm store. Today she shares with us her journey through Agriculture and how they grew their family business.

I married into agriculture back in 2016 to my multigenerational farmer husband, affectionately known as Mr. Wild Rose Farmer. We live and grow on our families certified organic grain and oilseed operation. In the Spring and Summer seasons, I raise a small herd of meat goats and have previously raised bottle calves as well.
