Decisive Farming by TELUS Agriculture team helps address data management challenges, optimize production practices for improved efficiency and profitability while leveraging the latest digital technologies to empower and connect farmers. Decisive Farming’s solutions include farm management software, soil health applications, including soil sampling and variable rate technology, crop marketing tools and connected devices that leverage TELUS’s latest technology capabilities. In this episode I got to interview Andrea Bilodeau who is a Senior Agrologist with TELUS Agriculture.

Andrea Bilodeau has been a Precision Fertility Agronomist for 12 years, the last five as Senior Agrologist with TELUS Agriculture. Andrea lives in east-central Alberta with her husband, who also works in the agriculture industry, and her son. When she’s not building fertility plans for her customers, Andrea enjoys reading, gardening, camping, snowshoeing and cross country skiing with her family.

Andrea has always had a passion for agriculture, choosing to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Manitoba. Of the things Andrea enjoys most about her job is using what she calls “common sense agronomy” to bring farm-specific value to her customers – she makes recommendations that benefit growers and their specific farm operations, whether that’s sharing a deeper understanding of the soil or maximizing input efficiencies for crops.

Andrea believes that soil is the foundation of everything we produce in agriculture, and incorporating variable rate technology is key to long-term sustainability. She spends much of her day analyzing soil sample tests that have been gathered directly from growers’ fields across her region of central Alberta and northern Saskatchewan. From there, she uses that information to build tailored fertility plans, helping growers farm more efficiently and sustainably.”
