International Women’s Day has been recognized since the early 1900’s, launching into the online world in 2001. Although we could argue that many improvements have been made, there is still substantial evidence that there is still far to go.
With the IWD theme of the year being #EmbraceEquity, I wanted to dive deeper into my understanding of these two definitions:
Equality means each individual or group of people is given the same resources or opportunities. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities needed to reach an equal outcome. – https://www.marinhhs.org/
As women, we are genuinely not equal without equity for everyone.
I compiled a podcast playlist from previous episodes of The Rural Woman Podcast that speak about equity from various touchpoints including gender, food, ability, and more.
