Recipe: My Go-to Meatballs

I’ll set the scene: I was working in my office when, at approximately 5:59pm, I could hear the sound of footsteps ever so slowly creeping towards the door. Followed by a soft knock and a weary ‘Honey?...’  I knew what was coming. “Can you make dinner for the crew?”  And just like that, field meal [...]

Blog: Field Meal Prep

It’s the calm before the storm. The storm being field meals that is - we haven’t had moisture here for a long time, but that’s a whole other conversation. I shared with you recently that for the last two years I had really been struggling with field meals. The planning, the execution, etc.  So I [...]

Real talk about field meals Well folks, it’s that time of year again. The time when new life is born and seeds are sown. The time for field meals is upon us. If I am being honest - I have had a tumultuous relationship with field meals over the years. In the beginning, it was [...]

Sometimes we’ve gotta slow down and dig deep. Sometimes we’ve gotta slow down and dig deep.

Getting to the root of our emotions and figuring out our feeling is tough work. Sharing those vulnerabilities - well, that’s a whole other ball game.

I’m super grateful to Erica from @thebranderica for allowing me to share my story in the latest episode of The Rural Mindset Podcast.

I shared my journey through my ups and downs with my personal mental health + a diagnosis last year that really brought some perspective to my life.

Tune in to The Rural Mindset Podcast wherever you get your pods 👊🏼❤️

As producers, we focus our time and attention on t As producers, we focus our time and attention on the health of the land, the soils, and animals.
If they’re not in good condition, we know they don’t produce.

But how often do we focus on our own health? At the end of the day, once we’ve taken care of everything and everyone else – what’s left over?

If we don’t treat ourselves with the same love and respect we do with the land and livestock - how are we supposed to produce?

@theruralwomanpodcast has been sharing and celebrating the stories of Women in Agriculture since 2019. Within these stories, there have been many women sharing their own experiences with their mental health.

I wrote a blog post highlighting episodes with a strong theme of mental wellness as well as linked other helpful resources . Head to the 🔗in my bio

On my wedding day, I can remember having conversat On my wedding day, I can remember having conversations with people who asked me if I was excited to move to the farm and start my garden...

Let's just say that gardening was not even on the list of things I wanted to do.

It wasn't until I emersed myself in my rural life that I found the joy and privilege of growing food that I started to dabble in the dirt.

I am so excited to share with you that I was asked to share my garden story on the @justgrowsomethingpodcast with host Karin Vellez.

Karin is my friend in the garden and is always on when I am digging in my garden boxes. She is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to growing and I can't wait for you to hear our episode together.

A gentle reminder - we aren't meant to do it all. A gentle reminder - we aren't meant to do it all.

It's easy to feel overwhelmed with all that we need to do; especially during our busy seasons. It can be frustrating that the to-do list never seems to get any shorter.

I think it's important to take some time and reflect on what the priorities are. That being said, don't forget - you're a priority. Take care of yourself; whatever that looks like for you.

Take it slow, Break it down. Ask for help. Show appreciation. You've got this 👊🏼

I've experienced some pretty intense growing pains I've experienced some pretty intense growing pains throughout my life.

As a kid, I would lay in bed with achy bones and tears in my eyes wondering why growing up seemed to be so hard.

Physical and mental growing pains seem to house some similar characteristics:

They come and go.
They look different for everyone.
Sometimes they happen faster than others.
We can grow out of them.
We grow to where we're meant to be.

Here's to the growing pains and what they've brought to us and what they continue to show us 👊🏼❤️

March Madness ✨ For the first time in two+ year March Madness ✨

For the first time in two+ years, I spent more time away from the farm than I was on it. It was exciting, fulfilling, and completely exhausting all at the same time.

Winter is our time to recharge before we start the new growing season. It seems harder and harder to do with so many projects on the go.

Today I got my hands in some dirt and sunshine on my face which felt like a million bucks.

I hope you can do the same.

I had an amazing day with my friends from @fccagri I had an amazing day with my friends from @fccagriculture at the #YoungFarmerSummit

We talked about big things like finances, transitioning the farm, and overcoming tragedy. All of these topics had one thing in common for me; my take away was simple..

Take it one step at a time.

It can be really easy to get overwhelmed with all that happens in our businesses. There are so many things outside of our control. If we work together and take it slow, being consistent - every little bit adds up.

Here’s to supporting Young Farmers 👊🏼✨

My kind of #GirlGang 👩🏼‍🌾 A couple of My kind of #GirlGang 👩🏼‍🌾

A couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of being invited to be a part of a round table discussion with the honourable Minister of Agriculture, Marie-Claude Bibeau, on International Women’s Day.

We discussed the challenges, barriers and successes Women in Ag had in terms of leadership in our industry. That conversation was front of mind this weekend as I presented at the 14th Annual @ceres_ab Women in Agriculture event.

It’s common when we speak of students to refer to them as the future leaders; the leaders of tomorrow. When I looked out on this room - I saw the leaders of today. Leaders who care about our industry, who care about the health and mental well-being of their community today. They are leading now.

Here’s to the leaders of our industry 👊🏼✨

P.S. - I got my meet/fan-girl/share the stage with @thebranderica 🤩🙌🏼✨
